After careful planning, Canyons School District has finalized the decision to relocate Life Skills to the former Bella Vista Elementary campus, located at 2131 Fort Union Blvd. in Cottonwood Heights. The move will happen with the start of the 2027-2028 school year, which means we’ll remain at our current location for the coming school year.
As many of you know, Life Skills Academy has been operating under a temporary arrangement at the Crescent View Building, which is currently under contract to be sold to Sandy City. As the District explored a permanent location that would best support students and our program’s long-term needs, the Bella Vista campus became available, and was found to align with our school’s mission of helping students build independence, job skills, and meaningful connections within the community.
The Bella Vista campus offers several advantages for students. It is within walking distance of numerous community partners, including Dan’s Foods, local restaurants, and the Whitmore Public Library, providing students convenient access to work-based learning experiences. The site also offers access to public transportation, including a bus stop along Fort Union Blvd. with connections to TRAX.
In addition, the campus will be shared with CSD’s Entrada Adult High School. While the two programs would remain separate and distinct, the shared location creates crossover opportunities. For Life Skills students interested in earning a high school diploma, required credit-bearing coursework will be available on the same campus.
Again, Life Skills will remain at the Crescent View Building throughout the 2026-2027 school year, providing ample time to prepare classrooms, transition the program, and ensure a smooth move for students and staff.
